Dash Cam
70mai Dash Cam Omni
Hey guys!

I own two of these 70mai omni dash cams. For some reason in my car I am unable to update the firmware and use the 4g features. For the other one all worked fine a long time ago.
It seems like that the update package is stuck on 0-3% all the time and its just not transfering. Is there any way I can update it from my laptop?
Everything seems to be working, but except the fact that i cannot update.

Maybe if someone has a way that i could use to update the webcam wired, or wireless, could you please lead me to it?

Thanks

I think I remember someone else having this problem.
Maybe you need to put your phone close to the dashcam while the update is taking place, because it uses Bluetooth for the update?
If that is not the answer then I expect 70mai support will know, because other people also have the problem.
Let us know the answer when you succeed...

I had the same issue with my A810, it took over an hour in the end, I just kept at it adding a few more % each time.

You can put the firmware files (dashcam and 4g) to the cam memory, turn it on, and it will update by its own.
The files need to be in the root folder of the cam, which is showed up when you connect the cam to a computer (by a data cable, which usually comes with a phone).
The files can be downloaded somewhere on the internet, or you can download it yourself on your phone directly from 70mai. If the app tells you that there are updates waiting to be pushed to the cam, then the firmware files are already in your phone, and you can copy it out to a computer.

Do you know where i could maybe download it?

Aren't the updates only available OTA?

The formal firmware updates are available only through OTA. However, it's undocumented how you can get the OTA downloaded files to use for manual updates.

I can say for Android as my phone is Android. When there are updates downloaded and pending to be pushed to the cam, the files temporarily exist in the hidden folder /Android/data/xxx.yyy/OTA/ (I forgot what exactly is the xxx.yyy). You can only open it and copy it from the computer your phone is plugged into. The files are with .bin or .zip extensions. Don't try to unzip it. Just copy it iver the the cam's (or sdcard) root folder, then turn on the cam. It will use the files for update.

If you don't see the pending OTA files to be pushed to the cam, you may go to phone settings ->Apps -> 70mai and clear its data. The newest OTA files will be downloaded to your phone, waiting to be pushed to the cam. And you can copy it as mentioned above.

Well, nope.

Support was actually useful this time. Here is the video, which was trivial on its own, and the file.
I put them to my drive, will be available for a long eternity hopefully.

This is actually a very small amount of information compared to what I had to go through. I'll leave a small tutorial for people in the future who have the same issues. I resolved all the issues yesterday.

Yeah so uploading that file was still not trivial.

Within the zip file and in the file there is this file.
1756017625654.webp

If I remember this was the framework and other files were for the 4g module.

I had issues withit though, camera was put into factory mode, and then some things just wouldn't work.
Support hardly replied:

Sorry that we found that there are currently some problems with 1.7.61ww that have not been solved. Please use version 1.6.57ww.
Please check the link and follow the instructions to download and upgrade the firmware:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ACSY-Pyoi98XY92ZbBk_9Vh8vEbhnNg7
Instruction Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lLB0ZWOu2jkba2IaCiEGcwNuHgUhvkK9/view?usp=drive_link
  1. Please connect the dashcam to your PC with a data transfer function cable.
  2. Download the zip file, and copy the bin file to the dashcam.
  3. Unplug the dashcam from the PC and connect it with a charging cable, then the dashcam will upgrade the firmware automatically.

My reply was:
Your new file was working!
I updated to 1.6.57ww successfully!

But the application still could not send over the new file from android app, always 0% of 1.7.61ww

I used the file you first sent me with 4g module.

Now the whole camera is chinease!

They replied:
hank you for getting back to us.
We found that it went into factory mode. Please press the up and down buttons to find "恢复出厂设置"
In addition, the version 1.7.61ww has a problem that causes the dashcam to not work properly, so please use version 1.6.57ww. Please do not update it on the app.
I attached a video they sent for exiting factory mode.

My reply was:
It seems like after factory reset the 1.7.61 fully worked. I managed to install the latest 4g module from the android application too.
It seems like It doesn't detect sim card, but that could be on my own problem I will check again tomorrow.

But it seems to be working fine now.

Can I keep 1.7.61?

1.If you fail to update the firmware version of the 4G module, please record a screen recording to show us your upgrade process.
2.You can keep 1.7.61ww temporarily (we don't recommend it), but if you encounter special problems with this version, you still need to return to 1.6.57ww.
