My laptop refuses to recognize any of my usb card readers.

I know that I'm capturing vidoe on my VIOFO approved Sandisk micro sd card. If I put the micro sd card into my Sandisk card adapter and put it directly into my old laptop, which has a reader slot, I can see my downloaded videos.

If I put the card adapter into one of three different usb card readers, and plug that into my regular laptop, I get nothing. The laptop does not register that anything has been plugged into the usb port. Nada, zilch.

I've updated the USB driver. No help.

I've formatted the sd card in the dash cam prior to use.

Is there some trick I'm missing to getting a micro sd card- plugged into an unlocked adapter- inserted into a Sandisk or Ritz gear brand usb reader to be recognized ? Or do i just happen to 3 bad usb readers? Or is it something to do with my regular laptop not recognizing the file format while my old computer does?

Long story short - how to I get my laptop to 'see' the videos on my sd card?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Might be obvious but does the USB port work for other devices?

What sort of laptop is it?

Maybe open up the disk manager to see if the cards are visible in there?

Maybe Removable Storage is disabled on the laptop.

I'm running Windows 11
Ahh, I'd expect that to just work, but the problem is likely to be with the laptop rather than elsewhere.

Can you see the memory card if you go into Disk Manager? Sometimes they will show up there but not be mounted.

Yes, both usb ports work fine with other connected devices.
Does a USB memory stick show up? (Is it only external storage and all external storage that has a problem?)

The sd card readers do not show up in Disk Manager.

A usb memory stick does show up in Disk Manager and works properly as a USB external storage device.

This leads me to think that my problem is the card readers.

If I'm shopping for a new reader are there any features or brands or style of reader that works better than others?

Why don't you try using the free Viofo "Brand" SD Card reader that's included with every Viofo camera?
See attached photo.

I don't remember ever seeing that when I purchased my dash cam. Hmmmm

Until the problem is sorted out, it is possible to connect the dashcam to the computer with the type C USB data cable which came with the camera. After connecting the camera it should turn on automaticly and then be seen as a device in Disk Manager and Windows Explorer.

From my computer experience I know that there are a lot of problems in Windows 11 to access USB attached devices like mobile phones and memory card readers. Unfortannely every device has it's own solution and users even experience solutions for the same device to work for one user but does not work for an other user. If you google "windows 11 not recognizing memory card reader" there are multiple hits with different ways to try solve the problem.

Are you sure it comes with every Viofo unit?
The last time I was supplied one i think it was the T130?

Thanks but there was not reader with the A229 Plus camera.

Also no card reader with A229 Plus 3CH which I bought recently.

Checking and it was the T130 the last time I saw the SD card reader being supplied.
There where some complaints about the reader on this site which may have changed Viofo's mind about suppling it.

Like the 32GB micro SD card that may come with the camera, it is a get you by option I believe.

T130 mentioning the sdcard microreader. It will jump to that spot in the video.

Problem resolved! I purchased a new sd card reader and bingo, all my problems were resolved. Thanks for all of your input.
