This is just a "heads up" regarding VIOFO improving A229 PRO parking mode video quality to 4K with new front camera firmware.
When the new firmware is available for download can somebody confirm if the improved video quality is noticeable? It's a huge file size increase - up to x4.
I am using a new camera from VIOFO with Front camera firmware V1.3.1_240913 which I noticed had bigger file sizes in PARKING MODE than my old camera.
Old camera Front camera file sizes were consistently 98 MB (3 minute loop, low bit rate recording). The new camera has variable file sizes from 98 MB to 446 MB.
I reached out to VIOFO for an explanation and received this reply:
"Because our new firmware has adjusted the parameters of the parking mode video compared to the old firmware.
In parking mode, the video of the front road is 4K, so the file size will increase.
The old firmware that was updated before automatically switched to 2K quality in parking mode, so the file size of the front camera is the same as that of the rear camera."
