What are the downsides of having a dash cam that has 4 lenses in one unit? One lense looking foward, two looking at sides and one looking to the rear.

Downsides? In my experience, reduced video quality since you’re going for quantity over quality while still trying to keep the price down, a larger and bulkier camera, and some of the additional angles having reduced visibility compared to dashcams that have separate cameras that are installed in more optimal locations.

It is convenient and easier to install a combo unit though.
