I have a Mio MiVue 618 in one car and the 698 in another car. Same camera, just the 98 is dual cam.
From very early on the 618 would randomly chop files. So it's set to 3min recordings but it would split files anywhere from 0 sec to 3:00min. If you copied all the files to the PC & put them in to video editing software then you could get the journey you took but it was very annoying looking piece by piece. Another issue is it would randomly not record (as I found out when I was nearly wiped out & went to look at the footage only to find there was nothing!). This was sent back to Mio and they acknowledged a fault with the motherboard. This was replaced but shortly after the same happened. It was sent back again but they found no fault apparently.
The 698 worked fine for a few years actually but over time it did the exact same thing with the file chopping. In addition to this it will throw in files dated totally wrong. Right now I'm looking at files on random dates apparently recorded in the year 2040. No I haven't altered settings.
Also the rear cam has taken to deciding when it will and wont record and the wont record part is becoming annoyingly too frequent. I've squirted electrical contact cleaner in the end of the cable & the port on the rear cam but this did nothing.
I imagine there's no real fix beyond replace & get a different cam, likely a Viofo but I'm just wondering if someone reading this fettled theirs?
