I really wish I could set a different Auto LCD Off setting for regular driving, and parking mode.

I do rideshare, where I want the screen on so that people know they are being recorded. But when I park and have it in motion detection mode, I don't need the screen running down the battery.

Is there a way to do this I'm not seeing?

If not, if Vantrue sees this, could you please add this in the next firmware?
 
Keeping the screen on could be illegal in many states that prohibit anything that's not factory installed and/or necessary to operate the vehicle (SatNav, backup cameras, etc.) to be visible to the driver. Dash cams would certainly fall into the illegal category in that case.

I would go the route of putting signs on all doors and the back of the front seats so there's no way they wouldn't be noticed.
 
In addition to any legality issues with having an active LCD screen operating in a car while driving, having a dash cam's screen on full time creates a lot of additional heat that can stress the components of the camera leading to premature failure or other problems. I'd go with the signs.
