I've been around a long time and experience has shown me that almost all user forums suffer the same affliction. The self-appointed expert. Someone who thinks he knows best & can't resist letting everyone else know it.

For me, the expert "very knowledgeable person" shares advice when asked then leaves it there, and doesn't try to impose his opinion on others, even if he disagrees. He's also willing to admit he doesn't have all the answers.

Now that's a forum worth visiting. πŸ˜‰

Join a forum for DIY solar power, or an Electrical Engineering forum, and see what you find. πŸ˜‰ On a forum, I watched someone argue that a glider's airfoil was designed incorrectly. He had no idea the person he was arguing with was an Aeronautical Engineer and Professor who taught at an international institute... and designed that airfoil. We let him bury himself for about 7 days until he was told who he was arguing with. He was quiet for a long time after that.

There are many personalities here, many with years of electronics, power, and installation experience. Sometimes people are correct, and sometimes they are wrong. As @Augustus and I once discussed, it is OK to be wrong, just own it, learn from it, and move on. A lot of good people here with knowledge and experience to share, I have no issues with any of them.

O yes there are MANY that will do the wrong thing for years / decades or some times even a whole lifetime, and not know it.
These are often called politicians.
I am just a dedicated user, there are people in here that geek out on this way more than i ever did
I just what to know what work / what can i recommend to other people, and best of all help them if they have problems.
Today i feel there are more working stuff than when i got into the game 15 years ago.

It is important to give the right people praise, but even more importhat to tell other people when they are wrong or down right stupid, the latter can also bo done in a good tone.

Exactly this, no one is going to think any less of you if you own up to the mistake, be sincere apologies and move forward together . But if you don't, then you harbour a lot of emotions, ultimately resulting in a loss of respect.
