I have been looking for some time for a dashcam and finally I made the decision with the Blackvue DG500 because of how it mounts so discreetly on the windscreen and its WIFI capability.
I did get an electrician to hardwire it, but I have had nothing but problems with it. Sound is distorted when viewing the footage on my laptop and the first 32 GIG micro card was corrupt.
The voice kept on saying please insert micro card, when a card is already in the unit. It was replaced and a few days after its doing the same.
I have read 😢 that the only problem since its release early this year is the overheating problem.
When I do set it up on infinity and so it records constantly 24 hours a day it does get warm, but I was reassured that that is normal.
Am I just unlucky or have people experienced similar problems?

The DR500 that I had was very warm, the microSd card was too hot to touch on a warm day. The software that is used to access the camera via Android for this dashcam has problems, doesnt work and is slow. It has major problems with some build versions see here

This dashcam does have a very good design and I liked the build quality, the mount was also awesome. However video quality was a complete joke as well as the MIC. If you want a decent dashcam grab a VicoVation or jokiin's dashcam here

here is the qualkity of his camera, I use this as a rear dashcam and it's insane quality, custom firmware from jokiin with regular updates. Download here

there are a couple of Korean cams I would happily use or recommend, the Blackvue is not one of them, nice design, woeful execution

Why would you want a camera going 24/7 anyway No wonder it gets hot Is it in Parking mode or driving mode all the time.

Is it wired through a Power magic or similar or if not your battery wont last long.

Format your SD card and use a class 10 Sandisk or Samsung GENUINE card and you shouldnt have any troubles Dont have sound problems when viewing the card through the Blackvue viewer on either of my computers.

Lots of trouble is caused by the I dot 10 syndrome.

EG Not setting it up correctly

Using it for what it is not designed to do ETC

yes I agree why would you....but when you hard wire it to the car it has an option where for instance most cars operate on a 12 volt system and you can program it so it can cut out after 6 hours or 12 hours and so on.

I will investigate some of the links you have posted, but now I guess its too late.

But thank you for the recommendations.
