BlackVue Elite 9 & Elite 10 details

Elite 8 - 2K HDR front, 2K HDR rear
Elite 9 - 4K HDR front, 2K HDR rear
Elite 10 - 4K HDR front, 4K Non-HDR rear

The non-HDR on the Elite 10 rear is a big deal, and may mean that the Elite 9 is the best option for some people.
Have to wait for the Elite 10 release next year to compare the rear footage, but 4K image detail isn't great if the license plates are blown out/over bright due to non-HDR.

maybe the rear is not very important
now many rear use 1080
i remember the old dashcam like blackvue 970 and thinkware u3000 donot have front hdr also

I have also received the Blackvue Elite 9 early this week. But my car have a winterbreak at the moment.
My plan will be to use the Elite 9 together with the Viofo A329S. Especially as parking mode camera with the LTE cloud connection.

I tested the Elite 9 and the power saving parkmode works excellent. When an impact occurs the dashcam wakes up really fast and send a message including a picture over the cloud. After that the dashcam returns to power save mode.

HDR is useless on rear cameras.
Missing HDR is a big deal only for the people who can not understand that HDR us useless on rear camera.

Speaking about useless, 2 years ago Blackvue declared the HDR is useless. Why they changed their mind?

I can see HDR being helpful behind you for situations when you've got bright headlights behind you and so the dashcam is better able to handle that extreme detail and make out things like vehicle shapes at night. It's not just about capturing license plates. 🙂

Looking through the Elite 9 manual, I don't see an option to turn off HDR. I've got an Elite 9 in the mail now and once the Elite 10 is released, I can do a head-to-head so we can test 2K HDR vs 4K non-HDR.

In the meantime we could always test with a different dashcam that lets you turn HDR on or off and that could be a pretty straightforward way to see how much HDR helps behind, or not.

Installed the Elite 9 today and moved the A329T with the telephoto cam a bit to right/upwards. This way all the cams are hidden behind the mirror and don't standing in my sight.
But at the moment i only adjusted the cams and updated to newest firmware. I will make more tests when the winter is over.

When the weather will be better i install the rear cam.

This will be a bit more difficult because i also have a second A329TC in back. This was also the cause to not wait for Elite 10 as a 4K cam is already in rear.
Maybe the second viofo telephoto cam in back will be exchanged with the Blackvue rear. The rear telephoto has some problems with the heater lines on the window and is not so important as the front one.

I know two A329T/TC and 1 Elite 9 is a bit of an overkill 🤣

Hey bro, I’m trying to decide between the viofo a329T and the blackvue elite 9. Which one is better in your opinion ?

The A329T is a better camera in my opinion. The Telephoto camera tops it for me.
However, if you want cloud access then BlackVue is the only one out of the two that offer it.
So it depends on your needs.

The Elite 9 is definitely a solid camera and an improvement over prior generations - so also depends if you're used to a specific brand.

I appreciate your feedback. I’m really thinking of getting that one to be honest.
