Camera for night time (with IR)

With the filter on the regular flashlights a red light was still visible. I know even the IR lights will still have some "lightprint" but I would like it to be as little as possible.
A proper IR LED will give out enough red light to be able to see that the LED is on, but not enough to illuminate anything with the red light.

Note that you shouldn't look directly at an IR LED since the iris in your eye will not close to protect your retina as it would with visible light, a high power LED could cause some permanent damage without you knowing until too late.

Which wavelenght would be better work better with the IMX322 sensor? 850nm or 940nm?
The Git1, with IR cut filter removed is over twice as sensitive to 850 than 940. About 60% the sensitivity of blue light.

Don't know about lenses, some cheap ones will not focus correctly at IR wavelengths even if they are good for visible, you may want to look for one designed for IR. Gitup sell several "90" degree lenses but I don't know if they work well with IR or how easy it is to remove the IR filter.
 
Thats my problem i like the 940nm light that the naked eye cant see, but it is 850 nm light i have used on my experiments and have on my CCTV cameras.

PS. see and not see i mean the light source itself directly on, you off course cant see the light beam or where it shine with the naked eye with either wavelength.

I am also OKAY with using 850 nm light on my rifle scope as its only on when i am shooting, but for my DIY night vision goggle i would like 940 nm so people cant see that red glow of the IR light source.

I also suspect the chipsets in dash and action cameras are not as good in handling IR light as chipsets in dedicated CCTV cameras thats build to use IR some times of the day.

PS. LED flashlights have a pretty narrow bandwith of light they emit, so there might not be as much IR light waves in that bundle of light.
The IR lights i use are all dedicated IR lights for CCTV cameras, and then the little 940 nm one i have is purpose build for use on night vision scopes and goggles.
 
If you're up to the job of putting the pieces together, it's not that hard to build a high-power multiple LED flashlight which should give you plenty of illumination in the beam pattern you desire and cover several wavelengths at the same time. And there are guys who will build that light for you though the price of their services varies. I'd suggest that DeltaCruz_91 seek info on the flashlight from BudgetLightForum.com or ForoLinternas.com 😉 There's a good chance you can find somebody near you who can help you with getting or making the light you need for this project 🙂

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look at those forums.

Bytheway, I tried a Mobius standard lens "A" which I believe it's a 2.8mm on the Git1 and I liked the narrower fov better than with the original lens less trying to guess what's on the screen.
However I will still try a narrower lens looking maybe for a 1,25-1-5 zoom but I don't know which would be the FOV equivalent.
 
On dashcams i have found that a 6 - 8 mm lens make things in the footage more or less as you will be seeing them with your own eyes.

But those kind of lenses also carry a small FOV.

This is recorded with a cheap 8 mm lens thrown on a dashcamera.
