Hi, so this is my 3rd Blackvue camera set and the problem lies with Mercedes GLE…. In 2019/2020 mercedes implemented a new battery management system that puts all the fuses to sleep after 60 mins. This therefore means that the parking mode stops on the cameras. The recent install was on a 2025 GLE variant and despite informing Halfords of the issue i had with my previous GLE they have not managed to get a suitable fuse…. They checked all 3 fuse boxes.

I have had 3 other installers and they can not resolve it.

Blackvue UK are pretty useless about it, their recommended installers were useless and they didnt know or answer once i described the issue.

It appears to me that the only way now to deal with it is a Blackvue battery pack or using the Conecta (which i dont want to do)

Does anybody have any experience of 2020 Mercedes GLE onwards and Blackvue parking mode and maybe some suggestions??

Thanks

Maybe an OBD-II power cable would work for you.

BV sells them on their website now, in the US at least…

Thanks.... The Conecta is a OBD power cable.... i didn't want to do this as the fitter said many car manufacturers don't like it.... especially Mercedes... and the car is new..... also the fitter said it is possible to damage it accidentally due to how Blackvue have positioned the exit cable.

I can't understand why your car shuts down all fuses after 60 minutes 😕 how do you unlock the car if there is no power ?I take it the alarm shuts down as well ?

I think Mercedes are pulling your leg TBH !

Had the issue since 2020.... previous GLE/ML's before the model change were all fine.... I have had 3 different Installers look at this over the last 4/5 years and not one can solve it..... Blackvue UK are pretty useless on the subject, they recommended some installers and when I told them the issue and asked if they knew how to resolve it, they all went quiet and never contacted me again.

I suspect some people have just been installing the battery packs so it is not an issue for them.

But no body have come on here to help..... so i guess they don't know.

Mercedes have confirmed that the system puts everything to sleep.... and this definately happens.... the installers have looked at the rear fuse box, the front left and right fuse boxes.... all the same issue!

The battery management system may put all the fuses to sleep, but it cannot put the battery itself to sleep.

I am assuming you are using hardwire kit.
I am not familiar with Blackvue hardwire kit but if it is anything like viofo, it should have 3 wires, permanent positive, ACC positive and ground (negative).
If so, connect these wires as follows:

-Connect the permanent positive wire directly to the positive battery terminal, include an inline 2-3A fuse near the battery terminal.
-Connect the ACC wire to the ACC slot in the fuse box
-Connect the ground (negative) to the car chassis, if it does not work you may need to connect the ground directly to the negative battery terminal.

Hope this helps.

Thanks GPak, however going to the battery terminal would require drilling the chassis?...

No drilling required !
A quick Google search shows that your car's main battery is located under the driver's seat and there is a ground post next to it.

I recently completed a very similar install of my DIY battery pack for a 2023 Dodge Charger (see link).
The principle is the same except in your case instead of three wires for battery pack, you will connect three wires from a hardwire kit.

Hi Gpak.... the primary battery is located under the Bonnett/Hood in GLE.... I think you are referring to the auxillary battery which is under the seat which powers the electricals when the car is in start stop mode..... I believe this is probably what is controlled by the battery management system, which powers offs the fuses.

But i also believe that to connect to the main battery, it would be the one under the hood..... hence the drilling!... This was confirmed by a main installer in the UK.

Often there are spare conduit / grommets to route a cable thru the firewall between interior and engine compartment.
