Hi,
I have a Cellink Neo 6, recently it has started to fail. I noticed first that my dash cam (Thinkware U1000) would not start up when I start my car. Sometimes it would announce that it did start a few minutes into my drive. Sometimes it would announce a second (or third) time that it was starting during a drive to work. Sometimes it would “die” with a horrible sound like it was croaking. I was worried that my Thinkware was failing. But I traced the problem to my Cellink battery. This system has worked flawlessly for over a year.
I Bluetooth connected to my Cellink and it showed 0% charge. A “low voltage” warning appeared on the screen. The battery is under my drivers seat in a very clean environment, and was cool to the touch but the temperature in the app showed a constant 43 degrees C, even right when I start the car up.
The app would show that the battery would try to charge while I would drive to work, but “low voltage” would continue to occasionally pop up on screen. I disconnected my dash cam to see if the charging would improve but it did not seem to get rid of the error.
When I get to work and turn off the car the battery rapidly discharges to zero %, at about 1% every 3-5 seconds. Within a minute it loses 20% of its charge and quickly goes to zero.
It does this even with the “output” cable disconnected from the battery. While disconnected from the car entirely the blue light near the input remains lit, even though the input cable is also disconnected.
I’m hoping that this is solvable. Can anyone provide any suggestions? Help @BlackboxMyCar

Check input voltage and current with a multimeter to see if it charges.

Thanks,
I took my multimeter out to my car today and measured 13+ volts but 0 current at the wire harness before plugging into the battery. I opened up the fuse panel and saw my 10A fuse burned! I replaced with a 15A fuse and I got my Neo 6 to charge up to 9% from dead. I noted that it was drawing 9A. I then shut off the car and it held 9% for a minute or two. I’ll verify that it’s good on my drive home today. For the moment (fingers crossed) I am hopeful the problem is solved.

I'm confident that will solve it. =)

Just drove home, dash cam came on when I started driving, got my Neo charge up to 83% on the drive, got home and shut off the engine, dash cam powered down, Neo held the charge. Looks like we’re back in business.

Can’t understand why the 10A fuse blew in the first place, maybe a small power spike or over-current draw? But the 15A fuse hopefully doesn’t go pop and I can keep on feeling safe and protected. My dash cam has already paid for itself and I feel “naked” driving without it.

I think it can draw 13.5 amps, so 15A is perfect, and understandable 10A melting.
