I have 5 cameras that I was powering with various 12V sockets and USB adapters with wires everywhere in my Golf Alltrack so I decided to set up a power system with wires tucked away. My front Garmin 45 is still powered from the armrest socket, but I have 4 Mobius cameras in the cargo area that I'm running off this setup. Since I have so many USB ports available I plugged in an old Garmin Nuvi to collect a tracklog of all my driving to overlay on video and to geotag photos.
I tapped the fuse box with standard 4 conductor trailer wire running to a standard Reese connector in the back seat area. I used white for ground, yellow for ACC, and brown for constant. I may use the 4th wire in the future. From there I plugged in a trailer side connector and ran the cable to a small compartment under the cargo floor. I had planned to cut the cigarette lighter plugs off the Anker USB chargers and wire directly to the trailer cable but I discovered from the reviews on Amazon that the plug has EM noise reduction components inside, so I had to use some old 12V sockets I had lying around. I have one charger on the ACC line and one on constant power, both grounded to the white wire.
The back, left, and right Mobius cameras get ACC power. The rear is recording at 10fps with sound, the side cameras are 5fps without sound. The headrest mounted Mobius with standard lens gets constant power and is recording at 4fps timelapse which comes out to about 0.5 mbps bitrate so it can store several weeks on an SD card.
