Customized text setting?

Can someone tell me the function of the customized text setting.

That's just for you to make a note. Not very useful unless you drive multiple cars etc.

or if you want to have just more text on the bottom of the screen. like maybe you could have the license plate in the lincenum field, then put the vehicle model or driver name in the custom text field: Camry, George, Civic, Donna, etc... or in my case since I have more than one, i have it as FRONT and REAR. i mean, it's obvious which is front or rear, but i figured why not?
