Are you saying the cyclist should have gone on red light just to get away of the cars way?
Hint for everyone before they make assumptions, look at the traffic lights at 16seconds/19seconds/ 28seconds/, The Traffic lights are RED, that's why the cyclists was just waiting there. At 28seconds we can see the traffic lights being RED and the car moves forward immediately after we see a red light and just as the bus is clear. Now look at the traffic lights at 40seconds, it is now green. The lights could have been green much earlier than at 40seconds but CLEARLY the van wasn't looking at the lights and moved forward as soon as the bus was clear.
What the cyclist says at 2:54 summarises things, (I was just sitting there and he drove into me) although the cyclist tried to move back into the cycle box after the car moved back.
Clearly the vans driver isn't a capable driver. Can't even use his sun visor, or his seat belt (though not knowing if that rule applies to his country).
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Well, first off, the cyclist seems to be spoiling for a fight - typical 'I've got a dashcam & I want you to perform'.
The old boy is sat in the bike box - which isn't really allowed (although, if you cross the first line after the lights change, you have to stop in the box). It's £100 fine - but we have no idea if that's what happened.
Why, then, does biker boy decide he is going to go through the box & sit out there beyond the box? (That's a £50 fine)
If he wanted to make his point about 'stupid old drivers' or whatever, he should've stayed back in the bike lane - but no, he HAD to go out front.
THEN, when the van backs up for the bus, bike boy does the same (not because he's law-abiding & wants to wait in the box). As soon as bike boy has moved back, he IMMEDIATELY moves across, putting himself directly in front of the van - again, confrontation,
Later on in the vid he's claiming to have been run into & buckled bike etc - yet all we really hear is him slapping the bonnet - he wasn't "just sitting there", he purposefully put his bike across. To try to wind the old boy up further, he leans his bike on the bonnet as well as waving his arms around & swearing at him.
On the YT channel, people are taking the mickey out of the old boy - when really, the biker boy is lucky it wasn't your normal van driving muppet, many wouldn't put up with that sort of crap from a cyclist.
Further on in the vid, we get to see just how bad the damage is to the bike - none, although it 'doesn't work as well as it did'.
Also note how biker boy has drawn a lot of bystanders into his world by telling them how a van drove into him.
