Dashcam video sent to the cloud ?

Ideally this would be live or as near to live as could be with local storage as a backup.

I can get an unlimited data SIM card on 4G (in the UK) so data is not an issue.

Powering a dashcam and mobile phone when not running the car is a problem.

Ideas ?

Within reason, money no object.

if you have TRULY unlimited (and not "unlimited", where they cap or throttle you after 10-20gb), then the only problem will be bandwidth. 1080p video is big, even with compression. a 5 minute file from my a118 is 571MB. that's over 100MB per minute. can you actually upload 100+MB every 60 seconds? consistently? and even if you can, where will you store that much stuff? and you'll need scripts server-side to automatically purge files over X amount of hours old, so you don't run out of space on the server.

it would only be practical (even then not really) to upload event files, there's just too much data involved

That idea was circling this forum for a while and in many threads.
Whilst it is great idea, it might be just too early for a full blast as to say.
