DDPAI N5 Dual - Radar Module Mounting and Sensitivity Problems

Hello dashcam enthusiasts!

I recently purchased the DDPAI N5 Dual with the radar module, and I’m facing some challenges with mounting it. After numerous tests, I’m still unsure how to achieve the best setup (I drive a Clio E-Tech Engineered, if that helps).

• The first challenge is the radar module placement. No matter where I try to mount it on the windscreen, there is always some obstacle, like the rearview mirror, headrests, or seats. I want to make sure the radar has a clear line of sight, but every spot seems to have a compromise.
• The second issue I’m encountering is with the radar's sensitivity. Even on the lowest setting, it constantly activates when I park on the street. While the added protection is great, it seems like the camera is on all the time, which isn’t ideal. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if there’s a better mounting position or a setting adjustment to avoid unnecessary triggers.

For those of you who have installed this camera or something similar, how did you solve these issues? Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how to mount the radar effectively, without obstacles and also optimizing cable management?

Hi @Cristian97, I have a very similar issue. I got the same model few days ago and set it up by myself. For cable management I recommend this youtube video :

for constantly recording video I still couldn't find a solution ( going to contact DDPAI support today ). did you find a way to stop recording constantly ?
in my case it starts to record almost everything and throwing low voltage error in the middle of the night 🙁.

I just had a chat with the support team. They are sending me a new radar module to test. Hopefully, it works with the new one.

Hi, thank you very much. They sent me a new radar too. It seems to work better, and it activates correctly when the radar detects movement, recording footage in parking mode. Sometimes if after a certain amount of time the radar still detects movement, it switches to time lapse mode for a long time because it detects movement and remains active. When parking on the side of the road with the radar at minimum sensitivity, even on roads with little traffic (about ten cars passing per hour), the dash cam goes into protection before the morning.

I'm still getting low voltage. ( that's a hybrid 2024 car - almost brand new battery )

Bună ziua ! Am această cameră DDPAI N5 dual și pot spune că sunt foarte nemulțumit. Prima dată am folosit-o cu OBD, după care am conectat-o la siguranțele auto. Am și radar instalat, dar degeaba, îmi înregistrează clipuri de câte 25-30 de secunde aproape la fiecare minut de staționare în parcare. Ma disperat, în 24 de ore am circa 600-700 de video a câte 25-30 de minute fiecare. Toate acestea se salvează în folderul ,,Video". Mai mult de 48 de ore nu stochează pe cardul de 256 GB. Problema mea cea mai mare este că o să-mi consume bateria mașinii, cu toate că am pus-o la un prag de 12,2 V. Ce pot să fac simplu să nu mai înregistreze degeaba, că nu mai înregistrează filmul, nu purtăm filmul?

Salut, vă mulțumesc foarte mult. Mi-au trimis și mie un radar nou. Pare să funcționeze mai bine și se activează corect când radarul detectează mișcare, înregistrând imagini în modul de parcare. Uneori, dacă după un anumit timp radarul încă detectează mișcare, trece în modul time-lapse pentru o perioadă lungă de timp, deoarece detectează mișcarea și rămâne activ. Când parchezi pe marginea drumului cu radarul la sensibilitate minimă, chiar și pe drumuri cu trafic redus (aproximativ zece mașini care trec pe oră), camera de bord intră în protecție înainte de dimineață.

L.a mine și în modul parcare înregistrează aproape în fiecare minut câte 25-30 secunde.
