He's claiming 'fair use'. I filed a complaint, but doubt Youtube will do anything. Sergey322. I'd bet a lot of his content is 'borrowed'.

from prior experience these types of channels will lodge a bunch of complaints against the channel of anyone that complains and try and get them shutdown, happened to someone I know already

My favorite Russian crash channel folded many months ago, after several name changes ASO it finally dident come back as far as i am aware.
But of course this was probably Russians competing for subscribers, and we know those guys don't play fair :)

it's ok. I've had channels shut down before. I'm not some sleazebag in the FSU trying to make a living off of compilation videos. I can afford vodka without youtube income. (don't have any now, anyway.)

Not much you can so about this which you haven't done already. Watermarking your vids will help with proof but it's up to YT to act. In recent times they've made several significant changes in how they do things and in that it seems they're no longer putting enough people into handling copyright complaints. Plus they no longer seem to care about smaller channels who have less than 100K subscribers. They're selling out to commercialism which is miles distant from where they began. Like Ebay and Amazon they know they have the game sewed up and can do whatever they want with impunity because there's no other viable options equal to them. That won't last forever but right now that's how it is and a lot of folks are getting harmed in the process :(

One of the things they're doing now is pulling vids and channels which don't "meet their guidelines" when their guidelines are not even clearly stated. If you appeal that you might be able to work something out and get reinstated. Another thing is that they're "de-monetizing" channels over content, which forces the channel's owner to either suffer the loss or to add inserted ads where none were before to try to regain their income. A lot of once-good channels are wasting away because of these changes since few can afford to do their usual content without compensation, and adding advertisements drives viewers away, but those ads put money in YT's pocket where that didn't happen as much before. It's a shame they've dropped to this level but that's the reality of it today and I don't expect better.

When i do Vodka i always go "Nastrovje" i think it was one of the first Russian words i picked up on,,,,,,, wayyyy back in the 70ties.

Youtube/google has rules and policies that scumbags know how to exploit, but the average person gets screwed.

I don't expect much, but wish there was some easy way to search for the owners of the other (many) videos he uses. Enough complaints and he is gone.
(Probably to pop up again)

I don't really miss the trickle of money from youtube I used to get, but sure as hell don't like somebody else collecting it.

I had a video I uploaded 2.5 years ago "claimed" by another channel and any money the video made would go to the claimant, not me. The video was me doing a review of a BenQ 32 inch 4K monitor so it was my content. In the email from YT informing me of the claim they listed a time frame in the video that was the part that was flagged as being copied -- that part of my video was me running the Unique Valley Benchmark for a few minutes.

So, the video was 2.5 years old and not worth fighting over so I deleted it -- if I can't get money for it they wont either.

I later learned a bit more about the whole thing as this was the first time any video of mine has been claimed and I should have filed a protest about the claim. Turns out an infamous outfit called "Studio71_2_1", which is apparently a media house that represents numerous YT personalities, had flagged my video for the use of the Valley Benchmark clip even though they don't own Valley Benchmark and my use was 100% copacetic. Apparently YT has software that fingerprints videos and Studio71_2_1 has this feature activated with all there channels videos so if any part of my video contains any content that's the same as one of there videos then they get to claim my video. Interestingly, they could have forced me to delete my video but they were OK with me keeping the video so long as they got the money for it.

So, in summary, I used Valley Benchmark to show off the BenQ monitor and my guess is the channel owner represented by Studio71_2_1 also had a video that included a clip of the Valley Benchmark. Sadly, in YT's email to me they did not list the specific video they claim I infringed so I could not confirm my suspicion. What Studio71_2_1 is doing, it appears, is taking advantage of YT's 'content ID' scanning and by default they go ahead and take your income. Studio71_2_1 has learned to game the system and its a sure bet others have as well.

At least they didn't get very much money from me and next time I'll know better how to fight it.

I have money making turned off, and even if i did see a lot of traffic i don't think i would turn it on.
I am amazed of what people are actually able to make money on, and in some cases one helluva lot of money, and it is totally lost of me though i am pretty good at seeing things from others perspectiven, then this often leave me with a WTF feeling.

I have about 100 videos posted over the last 3-4 years and have earned about $700USD in that time. So, I'm not going to make a living and in truth it doesn't even cover my costs, but it does offset my costs. I have about 2750 subscribers.

haha i just reached 100

No response from the complaint, yet.
Don't expect much.

Oh well, may give me a hobby for my upcoming retirement days.

:p

I see he has removed my video from that compilation, though.

It also looks like he is now adding some links to the original content he is using on some of his compilations.

I have (or had) one whole subscriber; poor slob must be really bored or something as I have almost no public content :p I've seen where some folks on YT have become quite wealthy from it in the past, but YT is demonetizing a lot of content now so I think those 'easy money' days are over for most YT channels. Not that it matters much to me as almost all the channels I watch aren't profit-driven as much as they are things those folks would do anyway ;)

I think many subscribe out of habit, i sure as hell cant figure out why anyone else would have much interest in my channel, my dashcam uploads are pretty much as far from the Russian videos as you can get.
I don't use subscribe functions on any site, in here are also one of less than a hand full of sites where i would use the like button.
I have picked up one hater on youtube that thumbs down just about anything i upload, even if it was just a pan over a field of flowers,,,,,,,,, pretty funny people can be so sick with anger they do such things.
Seem like the douche bag feel i am so wrong outing dangerous drivers, at least judging by the comments of some people that bother commenting.

I generally delete the profanity laced comments unless they are really amusing or I can think of some scathing reply that superficially seems polite.

:D

Oh, just got an email from YT that acknowledges receipt of my complaint.....a day after the guy removed the video.

how convenient.

There are a certain percentage of people that enjoy pissing people off or hurting them and the Internet has been a gold mine for them as they can say horrible things with impunity. Some of them are paid trolls that are employed to start firestorms where ever they can, but many others are sociopaths that have an outlet for there lack of empathy. Generally they avoid smaller channels but they also search for topics they know they can troll on.

One of the more interesting and depressing themes is trolling on channels that involve history and particularly old film from a century ago up through the 60's. In pretty much every such video you can count on someone going on about how much better things were back then but that's really just an excuse to start a flame war. It is amazing how often the trolls that start such comment threads have no content and no history when you click on there thumbnail. Social media like YT can be an amazing and wonderful thing, but the bad guys know how to weaponize it and are doing so.
