Going out of focus was not uncommon for dashcams in the old days, and as i recall moving to a nearer focus was generally what they did.
This is a result of thermal forces action on the lens itself and the mount it screw into using a fine thread 12 mm thread.
Most often you can refocus the lens but you have to take the system apart and turn the lens in its mount a few degrees, this complicated that the lens are often secured by a glue,,,,, not unbreakable glue but it is something that need a little working on.
Some used a little set screw to hold the lens, but i dont recall this being the case for DOD, the glue is wildly used, by most dashcam brands and even high end action camera brands.
On youtube you can find many videos on how to refocus action cameras or put another lens on them, it is generally the same you have to do, and same mounting system and lenses.
Do note the lens placement before you start, and know you probably just have to turn it a few degrees to be in the sweet focus spot again
That being said i thought DOD dies as a brand a decade ago, or close to that, but it was a popular brand in the old days.
As for image quality, modern systems will blow that old camera out of the water, then attack it with sidewinder missiles and when it have fallen back down do a torpedo run it it, it is literally a whole other ballgame today.
