DR750G-2CH black screen on the app

Hi, We bought a 5 year old car and it has a DR750G-2CH dash cam in it. It powers up but when you look in the app or the laptop it shows a black screen. We've tried changing the frame rate as we read somewhere, with no joy.
It may have problems which is why they left it behind, but before I replace it, does anyone have any ideas?

Do you mean 750S? I'm not familiar with 750G.

When you say laptop, you mean you removed the SDCard and plugged it into the laptop to look? So you have a bunch of mp4 files with black images? Both front & rear?

First check is that nothing's covering the lens. Not sure why that might be, but who knows. Then replace the SDCard with a new one and see what happens. If the same thing, I might consider a manual firmware upgrade to the latest. Maybe the firmware installation got corrupted. Beyond that, there's not a lot left to be done other than replacement.

Correct on all three questions.
The lens is clear, the cables are all pushed in correctly. I hadn't thought about the firmware upgrade, so I will do that. As for the sd card, I will buy a new one. Does it need to be blackvue or a quality sandisk or the like will be OK?
 
I've had good luck with the Samsung Pro Endurance. Some like the higher-end Sandisk, but I think many others have had issues.
You could do an initial test with whatever's lying around. That'll at least tell you if the camera is pooched.
