if you've cut the cable and wired the USB plug to 12v??? then you've killed it

wow, bummer man. I would have thought if you had the idea to hard wire it into the battery you would have realized the voltage difference. Not trying to rub salt into the wound but there are lots of threads about how to modify it to run it to a 5v fuse around here or 12v hard wire kits for sale too.

Just for future reference to other people, if you are looking to hardwire the Mini 0803 to a 12V lead on your car, the simpliest way is to use an additional lighter socket and the power adapter that comes with the Mini 0803.
