G Sensor

Does anyone have good knowledge of the G-sensor data. Obviously it detects forces upon your car, such as a bump etc., but does anyone know more about the x,y and z graphs shown in the player software ?.... just what are they sensing (what directions etc.).... anyone ?

I think they are acceleration (G) in the three axis.
x: Front-Back
y: Left-Right
z: Up-Down

They don't seem very useful to me...
