Has anyone attempted to upload a video from their git2 to Instagram?

I've got a 1440 4:3 clip that I'd like to upload, but Instagram chokes on it. Not sure if its because its from git2 or because the resolution is 1920 x 1440...

resolution issue sounds likely, file size might be a problem also, not sure what the limits are there

I dont think instagram will take big pictures, offcourse i dont come there often, but the stuff i have seen there look awful and small, this might be due to much of it beeing snapped with the front camera of a "smart" phone.

I doubt it wouls swallow the RAW images off my Nikon 5200D 😀 and the Nikon BTW is a nice selfie camera due to its rear screen can swivel around so you can see it from the front.
Its not handy then offcourse, but you will look just as stupid as when you snap selfies with a phone.

It might be the ROM of my xiaomi phone. It chokes when it tries to play git2 videos. No problem with videos from my old gopro HD hero. Will try with a different phone when I'm back from holiday and let you guys know... For those that care heh.

So the issue was with my janky Xiaomi Mi2s phone, or maybe its the ROM. Regardless, something wasn't working right. I was able to edit/trim/etc a 1920x1440 video in Instagram on an Xperia Z1 Compact no problem.

Obviously Instagram should never be used as a benchmark for image quality, but at least I know videos can be posted there no problem from my Git2, provided you have a decent phone heh.

jauling, have you tried transferring the video file to your phone and doing some editing there, or uploading it to some online service that can re-encode the video for you and then upload to instagram. I do not think you can transfer the video from the gitup2 straight to instagram.

In the same way people take pictures, most who do it with e DSLR transfer the picture to a smartphone, and edit it in the phone before sending it onto instagram or where it needs to go. Plenty of applications for android or IOS for these things out there.

Most online services like instagram, youtube etc, require that you input the right typ of format of the video you are uploading, bitrate, size, and so on.
