Saw this on another forum and thougth I would share

Few tips from the one time it saved my butt...if you get hit, leave the car running to make sure there's power to the unit and step in front of either F/R camera and show your face. You need to 'prove' that the video was taken from your vehicle. I was involved in a hit and run, had 24hrs to make a police report and they looked at the video, location of damage and location of camera to confirm this was mine. However, had my face been in the frame it would have been easier. I'd also hold your phone up to show the date and time.

All in all, this helped me get a police report to show I was not at fault and it helped me deal with my insurance company

If your dash cam has GPS, won't that show the correct date and time? Why would you also have to show the phone's time to the camera?

I don’t know but the person who posted this apparently ran into someone who questioned it.
