Hello!
I have a use case of a rental vehicle that I want to install a dashcam for the following purposes:
1. Protect the customers
- My region has a very high rate of accidents and a lot of very terrible and dangerous drivers. Having the dashcam provides evidence for the customer to at least demonstrate the other driver at fault.
2. Protect my vehicle
- Some customers are disrespectful to rental vehicles, and the most common damage they do that is difficult to deal with is driving too fast over speed bumps, which throws the vehicle out of alignment and sometimes damages components.
I currently do not have a strong need to identify license plates. I just need to assist in determining who is at fault in the event of an accident.
A camera should be difficult to disable and ideally not easily visible (e.g., "integrated"). IOW: out of site, out of mind.
I like the design of the Mangoal and I am aware of the housing, various sensor and video quality issues (this rental vehicle has no reported fitment issues with the housing). Aside from those issues, is there anything else out there that might be better for the task? I have also considered the cameras that install under the hood, but if those are obscured from the lens being fouled, they won't be as useful.
