Dash Cam
GS1000 Orange, DOD GS600
Just bought a GS1000. When out of the car the image is perfect, but when installed in the car its noticeably blurry. This did not happen with my previous dashcam which is a DOD G600, so I don't think its an issue with the windscreen. I'm thinking that maybe I'll get a better quality 5v supply and see if that makes any difference, however any advice will be appreciated. Sample video is here http://youtu.be/zfGAEiCtGmk - first 24 seconds is out of the car.

NB: please set to 1080 p when watching sample video

That's interesting, iTracker was good in the past,
but has it come now to that point when they use low quality parts?

If you like i can take pictures inside my itracker so we can compare components they use.

It almost looks like the outside footage is in 1080p mode but the inside footage looks like 720p. Weird. Beyond that observation, I can't even think what else it could be.

If you ever open up your camera here is insides of my iTracker GS1000 from DX.
This is like 6 months old and quality is good, but i understand that in some point components may change, and change can go to good or to bad.

I remind that i'm not actually saying that my camera is better than yours, i'm just interested inside components because i have heard that these manufacturers/assemblers buy parts from third party and sometimes they don't get the same parts they used before, and that may lead to some technical differences. That difference may lead to better camera or worse.

I suspect the lens is the problem, the power supply should have no effect at all

Yup, this is correct, I did some experiments and the power supply is not a factor, however I swapped the supplied mounting bracket with the bracket from my DOD GS600 and it seems to have improved markedly, actually I am satisfied with the image quality now. The DOD bracket holds the camera closer to the windscreen, so I suspect there was some sort of optical problem using the supplied GS1000 bracket.

What speed memeory card are you using ?

Class 10 memory cards record 1080p without issues but class 6 and below its cross your fingers and hope for the best.

I was using a class 4, but have now purchased a class 10. I'll let you know how it goes ...

Thanks for the tip. The class 10 card is a huge improvement.
