GS5000 Mph Kmph

Sinds two weeks i own a GS5000. Problem is that it displays the speed in Mph whereas i i would like to see KMph.
My GS5000 has blue menu's and a firmware version nobody mentions on this forum as far as i could see.... V2.0.6.G2KB A

I think the only way to change the speed notation is to reflash the firmware. Does anybody know what to do or what firmware is safe to upload to the camera?

I have Direct USB working. Is there any way to backup the existing firmware using Direct USB?

better to contact whoever you purchased from and see if they have an updated firmware, if you put the wrong one on you could end up bricking it

Hi steam,

I wouldn't try flashing with any firmware on this site. I am surprised that MPH can't be changed to KMph since that is usually what comes with these cameras. I would double check all the menu options to see if you can change it.

But be carefull!! A friend of mine purchased about 3 weeks ago exactly the same carcam from the same store and it had a speednotation in Kmph

We both tried to change the notation without succes there is really no option for it in the menu's. There is however some relief!

The new version of "Datacam player" (earlier mentionned on this site), now called "Registrator viewer" works really fine with this carcam. It is more professional than the rather primitive software supplied with the cam.
In Registrator viewer there is a menu option in wich you can choose for speed notation in Mph or Kmph. I think it's a translation in the program. The movie window stil displays the notation generated by the cam.
I think it's really a fine program It plays the the saved files from a trip in sequence and displays the complete trip on Google maps.
It handles files very fast after you connect the cam, gives you loads of information and had lots of options to play with.

Sorry... I forgot to mention. On the site of Registrator viewer you can choose for English in the upper right corner.
In the software there is also an option for English

do u want to try falsh to v2.0.4G2KB? i flash it from mph to kmh now but i notice the IR if i set auto, once the camera restart it will automatic swith to OFF, so i have to set it everytime

I think i first want to scrutinize the current version in my carcam (V2.0.6.G2KB A) before i try to flash what might be an older version with maybe lesser options. In a mean time Registrator Viewer (wich translates from Mph to Kmph) is a reasonable solution.



Did you know that you can easily check if the infrared leds are on or off using the cam of your phone?

Hello everyone,

few days ago I've receive GS1000 Car DVR Camera with Ambarella Chip with FW version V2.0.6.G2KB A and I have same problem like steam. Speed unit is MPH and it is imposible to change it.

Could you someone help me? Is it posible to change FW (upgrade/downgrade) and how?
