the 170 degree wide view is only in 720p mode, 1080p will be the regular 130 or so degree view, this is a function of the A2S70 chipset they use, the seller probably doesn't know how it works so I don't feel it's a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the product but since your priority is the 1080p resolution it's worth mentioning, the regular 1080p setting will give you a field of view like this http://www.jokiin.com/images/car_dvr_screenshot.jpg (this is with an A2S60 chipset but the 1080p support is the same)

The angles of many of these dash cams are greatly exaggerated so I wouldn't make a buying decision based on that. The F500LHD is a reliable model that has been out for some time. The GS8000 / GS9000 are newer models with less information on them but they give more features for the money. Check out the thread on the GS8000 for more details. Has positive and negative feedback from owners.

This statement is false, at least if it was the GS9000 model that was being referenced as I understood it. I was actually hoping that was the case, but unfortunately it is a full 178o in 1080p mode with a very pronounced fishbowl effect. You see the vehicles that are right to the side of the camera (as a near 180o view suggests) which is great, but it means most things appear very far away.

I've just ordered one as well so I am interested in knowing as well.

I also got my gs9000 with faulty GPS unit.
It seems to be wire inside the GPS device that is poorly soldered.
Foxoffer soon send me a new model GPS unit, without the error ;)

Just got my Cubot GS9000Pro from ebay today - must say im impressed - GPS working so far! Fingers crossed ...

What is the difference between the GS9000Pro and the GS9000?

theres 3 variations im aware of that i have seen online....

GS9000 - Standard full HD cam, NO GPS
GS9000 PRO - GPS included
GS9000L - Novatek processer instead of ambarella

people also advertise GS9000 with GPS etc etc.... so just names really.

and of course - many manufacturers buy the raw parts and put their own stuff inside.... so probably many more versions under the generic "gs9000" term

I bought my VIOFO GS9000 with GPS from FoxOffer.com, so that would be the same as the Cubot GS9000Pro I take it?

Do you know if they all utilize the same firmware and are interchangeable?

Cheers :) Mario

Yes it seems the same from what i gather - Also foxoffer sell the VIOFO with firmware vx01g82ck and thats exactly what mine is with the CUBOT. I get a nice picture of a red merc on my startup!

I noticed on the FoxOffer blog page http://www.foxoffer.com/blog/2013/03/04 ... -firmware/ that they provide information and a file to update the GS9000 firmware. It appears that the firmware file that you can download is version VX.0.1 G82C K, which according to your post is already installed on the unit. Strange that they would do a "How To" for something that is already installed.

I asked foxoffer the same question.

This was the answer I got back -

Dear Dan

The manufacturer sent us that firmware, it doesn't have much change, if your device doesn't have problem that no need to use this firmware, if there is problem that you could try this firmware.

best regards,

Leo Zhou

If anyone is looking for a GS8000 the link you first posted to claims they are almost gone with 39 sold 5 left also if you want to save about 15 dollars GeekBuying has it for $93.99.

Can someone confirm the resolution of the 2.7" screen from both the GS8000 and GS9000?

Some specs say it's 960x480 and others say its 960x240.

I'm torn between these two since the HDW001 is not available.
