I am hardwiring the Viofo a229 Pro in my Toyota Camry. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where and how to secure the little box (allows you to set car battery voltage limit)?
 
When I did the initial hardwire install in my son’s Mustang, I just tucked the box up under the glove box. You’ve gotta turn yourself upside down and get your head into the footwell then use a flashlight to see what is there. Just use two zip ties, one on each side, and bundle the regulator box to a wire harness that is up and out of the way so it won’t get caught on feet as people wet in and out of the car. Once the voltage switch is set, you’re likely not to need to fiddle with it again.

I had my A229 Pro professionally installed and they put the regulator box behind a plastic end cap on the side of the dash. If you open a front door it's completely visible. They used a plastic pry tool to remove it. My car is similar to an Avalon or Camry so should be like yours. If my description is not clear I can take a picture.
 
That's actually a great idea.
I would appreciate a picture so I don't end up detaching something I'll regret.

This picture shows the passenger side end cap which is where they installed the regulator in my car.

The Youtube video (in the first few seconds) shows how to remove the driver side end cap on a 2018-2024 Camry which should be very similar for the passenger side. He did not pull the entire cap off but on mine the passenger side just came right out when it was pried.

If you get a chance it would be great if you snapped a few photos of your install.
You have a really popular car so this might be super helpful.
They used wire ties to secure the regulator and wire bundle on mine behind the end cover.
 
I have a simple support of some sort under the dash close to my fuse box, i have often tied hard wire kits to it using velcro zip ties, but any kind of tape will work too i recon.
 
I had thought of using velcro in what I think is the same area your referring to.

That’s a pretty good idea! That location maximizes the length of available cable when routing up the A-pillar and across the top of the windshield, keeps the regulator out of the way, but still provides easy access without contorting yourself for access to the bottom of the glovebox!

All sounds good. Just wanted to mention to make sure the unit can get some air for cooling.
 
Good point, though the last two boxes that I’ve evaluated (Vantrue and Viofo) have both been very efficient and run with a minimal thermal rise over ambient.

In my Camry the fuse box is under the dash on the driver's side. Is there an issue with the emergency brake being close to the area where the cable would emerge or is there enough clearance?
 
I presume your parking brake is engaged with a pedal near the driver's left leg, so it's located close to the fusebox. There's no issue as long as you keep your extra cable tied up and tucked out of the way. There is usually a way to tuck wiring into the side of the dash, or around the edge of the dash so the wires aren't exposed to get snagged on things. Removing the A-pillar cover might reveal a way to run the wire behind the dash and keep everything hidden...
