Hi all,
I have the 70mai hardwire kit, and before installing it I noticed that the cutoff voltage is fixed at 11.4V. This seems way too low.
So I tested it and indeed 11.4V is when it cuts off after 3-4 seconds below this voltage. Also it appears to stay cutoff even when the voltage rises again, although I didn't wait for a long time.
So what I've done is put a 1N4004 diode in series with the positive lead. This diode has a voltage drop between 0.8 and 0.9V. So now cuts off at about 12.0 to 12.2 V battery voltage, which seems a lot more sensible.
I'm debating whether to have it perminently On or use the parking mode, but hopefully with this, either way my car battery will be safe!
Only problem now might be it cutting off when there's a load on the battery. My car doesn't have a starter motor, so might not be an issue!
Anyone else used this hardwire kit?
