I would like to hardwire my mini 0806 when it arrives In my vauxhall astra can anyone recommend a complete kit thanks.
I see that you're in the UK???
I purchased this kit
http://2.gp/Gfth which came with a 12v - 5v mini USB connector. I'm REALLY impressed with the hardwire kit that I received and it was available from the same seller but I can't find ANY items for sale by them at the moment. I wouldn't be adverse though to using something like this
http://2.gp/Gftg They are a UK seller, so any problems should be ironed out quite quickly.
Using a multi-meter I found a fuse in the fuse box which only has power when the ignition is turned on, and using one of these devices:

I created a new circuit to feed the adapters positive lead and earthed the negative to the chassis of the car (there may be better ways to to do this, but it has worked fine for the last 3 years with my hard wired TOMTOM).
For me, I knew in my own mind how I was going to wire the device, and I wanted the cable to come straight from the roof to power the dashcam, in other words I wanted a straight lead, not one with a right angle connector.
I have a Skoda Octavia WITHOUT curtain airbags. I "googled" how to remove the trim on the offside "A-Pillar", connected the positive terminal to the spur created with
http://2.gp/Gftj connected the negative to the chassis of the car (having first confirmed with the multi-meter that the circuit was complete), cable tied the adapters box of tricks to a convenient mounting point, ran my cable up the dashboard trim, into the "A-pillar", held the cable tightly in place against the metalwork of the "A-pillar" with a small amount of gaffa tape to prevent any rattles, replaced the "A-pillar" trim and managed to push the cable in behind the roof lining.
The only evidence of any cable is about 3inches of cable that runs from the roof lining to the dashcam.
Hope that helps a little???
