I bought a 70mai UP03 hardwire kit to use with an M310, can I use it with a dual dashcam setup (Viofo A129 Plus)?

Hey all, I bought a 70mai UP03 hardwiring kit for a 70mai M310 dashcam, front only. I have now changed my mind and want to return the dashcam and get a dual cam setup, the type where the rear camera connects to the front camera for power.

Is my current hardwiring kit going to be enough, power-wise, or do I need a new one?

Thanks

In regard to the 70mai up03 being used on another dashcam I think your chances are very slim.
70mai seem to lock down their modems are they seem to only want to talk to the models that 70mai make.
The UP03 is not LTE enabled, so there is no 4G LTE modem and as far as I know there are no other data comms between the UP03 and 70mai dash camera.

You won't be able to set the voltage levels you want as it is done via the firmware of their dashcams that support the up03.
The UP03 does not support a user selectable low voltage cutoff setting in the "Sentinel Mode" section of the Settings for the 70mai dash camera [X800 in my case]. The UP03 has a fixed low voltage cutoff values of 11.8V as documented on the "Specifications" page of the UP03 user manual.

First screenshot shows the "Vehicle battery protection" configuration option when the 4K Omni [X800] is powered by a UP05 4G LTE enabled hardwire kit. The second screenshot is when that same 4K Omni is powered by a UP03 hardwire kit [no 4G LTE device bound to the 4K Omni].

For the OP, in general it's not a good idea to try to use one company's hardwire kit for a USB powered dash camera to power another company's USB powered dash camera. The main 5V power/ground will be the same, but the pin/wire that each company uses to trigger the entering/exiting of parking mode will not necessarily be the same. That results in parking mode not working as expected or at all.

With the second part of your question do you mean you want to use the 70mai up03 as your hardwire kit on a different dashcam?
You won't be able to set the voltage levels you want as it is done via the firmware of their dashcams that support the up03.

You are better off replacing everything which will help if/when you need support they can't fob you off because you are using another companies hardwire kit.

Hope the helped.
Lol UP04 and UP05 are the LTE modem models not UP03 which is hardwire with USB-C. Oh and UP02 is hardwire with micro-USB

I used the UP03 with a dual setup (A129 front+rear) and it works just fine. This kit can power both cams since the rear draws power from the front unit. Just hook them up, set the low-voltage cutoff so you don’t kill your battery, and you’re good to go.

The 70mai UP03's dash camera power cable terminates with a USB-C connector that plugs into the dash camera. The VIOFO A129 series of dash cameras have mini-USB connectors for their USB power connector.

I don't see how a 70mai UP03 hardwire kit's USB-C connector could power a VIOFO A129 series dash camera without using some sort of USB-C to mini-USB converter. Even if a USB cable type converter was used, there isn't a good chance the USB pin/wire used to inform the dash camera to enter/exit parking mode would be the same pin/wire since the power cables are from different companies.
