I was going to do a super capacitor mod to the ITB100-HD like the Mobius has.

I bought the Mobius super capacitor and then took apart the ITB100-HD.

I thought it was a battery from the disassembly pictures, but it turns out there's already a capacitor inside...

I'm not sure, just assuming, but it seems like the later versions of the ITB100-HD were built with capacitors. Not sure about the first versions.

Supercaps were always there. Check overview made over year ago ;)

This is great reliable dashcam, one of my favourite ones. The only drawback is low bit-rate ( original FW ). There is out a custom FW which has higher bit-rate, but not all custom is "the way to go", there may be some complications.

I can concur. I have owned 3 of them for more than 2 years. Or whenever they were actually launched, and they always had a capacitor.

Acutally, the overview does not show or state the camera used a capacitor. From what it looks like in the pictures, just a regular battery that was soldered onto the board. No where on the internet was it stated that it used a supercap.
