In the past 2 years, I installed 6 dashcams in my, my parents’, and my in-laws’ cars (Honda CRV, Mazda CX-5, Acura RDX, etc.). Coincidentally, every car used low-profile mini fuses. I tried 6 different brands and every single fuse tap was loose. It seems these low-profile fuse taps weren’t designed to fit car fuse boxes. It's very bizarre. 🤔

Today, my wife knocked a fuse tap loose while driving. This led to a mini-nightmare as we couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car. It's hard to tell if a fuse is loose. After spending hours to find the loose fuse, I decided to replace these fuse taps. It's too much of a headache/worry.

I know this is a long shot, but would anyone know of a seller of a low-profile fuse tap that actually provides a tight fit?

I’m guessing a no to the question above, so tomorrow, I intend to replace the low-profile mini fuse taps with regular mini fuse taps. I know the next question seems pretty obvious but I just want to be sure.

Is it ok to replace the original low-profile mini fuse with a normal mini fuse as long as the number of amps is the same?

Where can I purchase the replacement 10A and 20A mini fuses – Home Depot or Autozone?

Thanks for the help!

You can use mini taps instead. They will fit the fuse box fine and have longer legs.

Mazdas are problematic in using fuse taps. They are always loose which is why we do not use them.

The ATM Low Pro I would guess you are not pushing them in all the way. On Hondas and Acuras you need to push with a little more force for them to lock into place.

Hi, did you find the right fuse tap?
I am looking for this for my Mazda CX-5, but with no luck so far.
I do not want to use the MINI tap, because it is not ideal solution - it is just not right fuse tap.

Yep, I used the "mini" fuse taps instead of the "low-profile mini" fuse taps.

They fit perfectly on all car brands. (I tried them on a Mazda, Acura, and Honda.)

Since you have to replace the original low-profile mini fuses with mini fuses, you'll need to get 4 of them. I got this from Amazon, and they were perfect.

Btw, I have a feeling that these hardwire kits don't cut off power when the voltage drops below a certain level. I installed a Viofo hardwire kit as well as a Chinese brand. In both cars, my batteries ended up dying when I stopped using the cars for about 5 days. It might be a coincidence and ended up with 2 defective hardwire kits, but I doubt it. I ended up turning off parking mode in both of my cars as well as my parents' car. So installing these hardwire kits is just a way to hide unsightly wires.
