Dumb guy question here: is that GPS module plug something standard that if I desired, I could add an extension cable for more flexibility in mounting locations?

My guess is that you won't be able to find an extension cord for the GPS Unit. You managed to ask a question about the one image that I didn't make 🙂, so here is the image of the GPS connector that I just added to my thread:

That may partly explain the people reviewing the module on Amazon mentioning they installed directly onto the housing (upside down) instead of on the dash and that it works just fine. The installation video for my vehicle shows the cable barely long enough to reach the dash, and my preference would be in the middle of the dash.

I have a DAB antenna installed on the right side of the windshield, about halfway up.
I plan to stick the GPS module above it, right up against the headliner. Nothing interferes with signal reception there.

Such a system would of course also need to have some aids in it to determine what cut out to make in the generic shell so it would still fit seamless with the existing sensor island, at least when viewed from the outside looking at the windscreen.

Also ventilation of system and not forgetting things already there in the original sensor island.

I've already raised that point first about it being potentially problematic in terms of resale value , should a buyer wish to do that.

There's just too many variables in terms of car manufacturers, and then the placement of sensors or other electronics/wiring, for it to be a viable option to even have something like that.

This is very possibly a Julet connector. Julet Connector

Can be found on Amazon by searching for 'Julet Connector'. Also on Ebay.
As with all wiring, verify the pinout and connectivity with a meter.

Just going by the pictures, I don't think that's it. The Julet ones all have the armor or whatever around the female, but that plug looks like the armor is around the male. The Julet holes are in more of a rectangle shape, and that one is more square, and the indent thing on the edge appears a slightly different shape, more of U on the Julet,
 
The dimensions in the listing aren’t particularly useful for matching purposes. They are measuring the sheath, not the connector itself.

I was just looking at the shapes - I have no idea what any of the dimensions are.

The seamless, flush hidden appearance is the core highlight of our OEM dash cams. We are delighted that this design appeals to drivers who prefer stealth installation, which is exactly the original intention behind our product development.
We are well aware that vehicle-specific custom molds inevitably lead to limited compatibility across car models, and we truly regret that we do not yet have a dedicated kit available for the Citroën C3.
Your idea of a customizable, cuttable universal housing is incredibly valuable. However, sensor bases on the windscreen vary drastically in shape, size and internal component layout across different car brands. It is technically challenging to create a universal shell that fits seamlessly for all vehicles. Such a design would likely block the factory sensors, cause poor heat dissipation, and ruin the neat integrated look we strive to deliver.
To strike a balance between broad compatibility and a stealth aesthetic, we keep expanding our library of vehicle-specific molds steadily and plan to support more car models step by step in the future.
We sincerely appreciate your creative suggestions; they are tremendously helpful for our ongoing product upgrades and iterations. 🛣️

Hey Friend, Happy to help answer your question. A GPS module is included as standard with all our products.
The port on our GPS module is not a universal standard connector. The factory wiring cable for the GPS unit is around 6.4 feet long, which is enough for most common car installation layouts.
We do not recommend adding an aftermarket extension cord later.
If you can let me know exactly where you intend to mount the GPS antenna inside your vehicle, I can help you check if this cable length will suit your needs perfectly.🚕

I was wondering if using an extension cable might lead to some signal loss or data corruption due to added resistance of a longer wire. The cable is long enough for my sedan to run from the windshield center to the passenger side A-pillar, down the pillar, and then mount on the windshield or dash corner.

I noticed this, too. I learned that my living room floor is 620 feet above sea level 😉. The GPS module was able to receive a signal through the roof and the second floor of my house.

I would prefer to install the GPS in the middle of the dash several inches behind the windshield. My purpose for using your product is in a rental vehicle and I prefer installed components such as the camera system to not be too obvious. IOW, "out of sight, out of mind."

Thanks for sharing your installation preference! I fully understand you'd like to place the GPS module in the middle of your dashboard for hidden mounting.
Our factory GPS cable is 6.4ft (≈1.95m, nearly 2 meters) long. Our technical team has confirmed this length is completely enough to route the GPS unit to your desired dashboard middle position behind the windshield.
For optimal satellite reception, we also recommend keeping the GPS logo facing upwardwhen installing, following our official installation guide shown in the diagram.

Besides, the GPS connector is a customized non-universal interface, so we don’t recommend self-made or third-party extension cables, which may cause signal attenuation and positioning instability. The original factory cable can perfectly meet your hidden wiring needs for the rental vehicle with no extra extensions needed.
