I saw a similar thread in the B40 / A118 / AE-CC30 section, and thought that it was quite interesting to have pictures of people’s installation. And pictures of how it looks like after installation.

Could not find a similar thread for the Mini 0803…. so here we go…

received my 0803 yesterday, ordered from foxoffer on 8/8/14 (Friday),… shipped on 13/8/14 (wednesday), received on 25/8/14 (Monday) to Perth, Western Australia.

ordered with the Hardwire Kit….

there was no issues with the contact of mount, although it was sitting a bit at an angle because there was still a bit of a gap in the mount. looking from the back, the right side of the camera was lower than the left hand side…. shimming the camera with an 80gsm paper was all it took to straighten it up. (Followed by black marker to 'paint' the white paper black)

video footage from this camera is a bit blurry ... :( .... still playing with the EV and WDR settings thought.... so.... to early to tell....

would really like if those were shipped with BLACK mounting tape though!!!!

This is how it looks like from the driver's pov... i can only see the led. mounted it that way so that i know if the camera is working and recording...

I guess there wasn't already a thread because everyone installs it in exactly the same place, except in a left hand drive car!

One of the reasons for choosing a Mini 0803 is so that you can place it out of the way behind the mirror and that is also the place it has the best view. It may also be the only legal place depending on your local laws regarding obstructing the drivers view and having video screens visible to the driver while driving.

The only thing you are missing is a sun shield above it to prevent direct heating from solar radiation which I would recommend even if you have the newer version with extra heat sink. See other thread: https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/mini-0803-sunshade.6741/

I installed mine today, had the same issue with the RHS lower than the left. I shimmed the connector with black PVC tape folded x3 and trimmed. I also put a bit of black PVC tape over the writing.

Mine was a bit blurry and a lot of artifacts on video too. So I updated to iTracker version 20140804 and the problem was resolved. The video is like g1w videos that are very good. The video is without artifacts.

Try updating the firmware. If not, it might be glare from your dash that's reflecting onto your windshield. A CPL filter will help with that.

i will try that, thanks

Did you end up with any setting with sharper footage?

I'm now trying WDR off and EV +1.0
