Mobius have released their latest camera, the Maxi, which borrows some design elements from the Mini and the Mobius 1, and adds improved video performance tailored towards dashcam use.

There is a general Mobius Maxi support thread at RCGroups The Mobius Maxi Support Thread

Dashcam-specific issues should be discussed here at DCT https://dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/mobius-maxi-support-thread.34359/

What's up with the interpolated 4K setting in mSetup.

AR0521?

It's a 2.7k sensor. Mobius have decided to offer an interpolated 4k video mode, although the camera is not advertised as a 4k camera. I always use 2.7k for the best video performance.

Besides color, is there a difference between black and orange?

No functional difference
Orange is hi-visibility for use on RC aircraft etc.
Black is stealthy for dashcam use!

The camera hardware supports Wi-Fi, but it is not yet enabled.

The Maxi supports webcam mode like the M1 for live video preview.

Wi-Fi would be a nice addition, USB disconnections while aiming the camera can be quite frustrating.

What sort of bitrates do the Normal - Fine - super fine - extreme fine entail ?
The new one seem to be handling itself alright.
As my mobius 2 just packed it in, and my long range X cam might do the same, this look like a worthy successor to wear the 12 mm lens.
Price also seem to be alright.

Extreme 2.7k = 60Mbps / 1080p60 = 38Mbps
Superfine 2.7k = 44Mbps / 1080p60 = 30Mbps
Fine 2.7k = 40Mbps / 1080p60 = 24Mbps
Normal 2.7k = 36Mbps / 1080p60 = 19Mbps

The extreme bitrate requires a fast microSD card and should NOT be used for parking mode! Ideally it is used for RC video with plenty of airflow. I have not had any heat-related issues in 4 months of testing, although we are just getting into the British 'summer'. I would estimate that the Maxi running 2.7k at 60Mbps gets no hotter than the M1 running 1080p30 at 18Mbps.

I had my X cam running at 40 mbit ( 1080/60 ) for at least a year no problem, parking mode are not something i would use with the Maxi

Also nice it have 128Gb support, that will probably be needed if you use the big bitrates in relation to dashcam use.

It may just be me, but i cant stop feeling your camera are a tad short focused.

Will have to see if i can find the money for one some time past the summer, i do have a "new" RC truck nearing completion, but i will have to make do with regular footage of it for now.

O BTW also nice the Maxi appear to have EIS, have you tried that out to see how good it work ( can vary a lot in between cameras from different brands )

EIS is only available at 1080 and lower resolutions, and much like its sibling the Mobius Mini the EIS is not very effective. I don't think the chipset supplier is giving this feature much support.

Glad to see the Maxi finally released to the market.

Also pleased to hear that Mobius decided in the end to opt for a set-screw on the lens barrel.

So, now that the camera has been released with ability to manually focus the lens, does it ship with a wiring harness? Can it do web mode for focusing on a computer monitor?
