so im trying out my new cam in my house and with motion detect on and hardwired to a usb plug (not laptop/pc) it does indeed begin recording if i move the camera etc. however what i also find annoying is even with the hardwire in stop video after the set period because its not detected motion. surley you can have both?

i assumed motion was for when you were not at your car and someone bangs you so it can begin to record while your not there and catch a reg plate etc, then i assumed that if hardwire is in an live, then it will always record?

is my understanding incorrect?
 
oh i see, are there no custom firmwares that fix that? pressume not. does the 0803 allow that feautre?
 
A7 can support parking mode, their hardware design is not tailored to that usage though

you also want to avoid using parking mode on any camera with an internal battery

Is that why the battery in my 0801 failed? I would switch it to a permanent Live sometimes (for 8 hours) with the motion detect 'on'. It did actually record when motion was detected.

So would it be better to turn off the 'motion detect' and just leave it running?

I managed to replace the battery though, so my cam is behaving itself again.
