Multi Safer

i didn't really know where to post this.

I have a problem with my Escort Redline(radar detector) turning off and on because of the auto start/stop feature on bmw. This is the feature i kinda want to keep..

In order to bypass the feature, could i simply use the Multi Safer device that i used for dashcam?

You can use MultiSafer, but still need to hardwire to the fuse which will not be affected by start-stop power cut.
F-series BMW can be fussy when canbus senses extra load in the circuit, it may display false positive error. For some people worked well hardwiring BDP directly to battery.

wait.. If there is a fuse that is not affected by auto start/stop, then i wouldnt need a MultiSafer, no? Radar detector doesnt need to be running when im not in the car and bmw cuts off all the power after 10 mins of engine off.
I was planning to get a MultiSafer because i couldnt find that fuse.

im using the battery itself to power my dashcam. Is it ok if use the battery again for radar detector?

yes, why not. Just don't forget to power off dashcam and radar detector while car is parked to avoid car battery going flat. Still best advice is to use BDP device.

bmw cuts off all the power after 10 mins of engine off

Some stay on for 20 minutes I believe and there are also a few which always stay on, the headlights for example. I've also got an F30 and it's fine with my two dashcams hardwired but I have them switch to always on when the ignition is off and after about 6 hours it will start to detect parasitic drain and flash up a warning but it doesn't effect the car from starting etc. You can ok the warning and on the next startup of the car the warning goes away.

Weird thing is that headlight or seat heater, those kind of things should be always on at stop. But my radar detector still shuts off at stop..
I have no idea why..
When you look at the fuse diagram, there is couple fuses designated to one function like headlight. Maybe some other fuse is really for that function? I used # hundred sixty something.

How did you go about switching it to always on again?

I'll need to check which fuses I used but I do remember it being a pain because of the 10 min and 20 min delayed fuses. I think there's only like two fuses which stay on lol

It's all in the main fuse box in the boot. I'm changing over my power magic pro for the Multi Safer as soon as I get a moment so I'll check then.

Just installed the Multi Safer successfully and here's the fuse numbers for an F30 BMW:

Yellow which switches to battery and is always on even with ignition off which is a full size blade is fuse location 161. It is hard to see which side is the hot side as they both look like they have contacts. The side on the right is blue and the side on the left is black like the mini sized ones so I assumed it was the left side nearer the centre of the fuse panel.

Red which is ignition only is a Mini blade size and is fuse location 158. The hot side is to your right towards the centre of the fuse panel. The left side has no contacts that I could see.

There's a ground bolt just to the left of the fuse panel which is prefect.
