- DR770X Box
2 years ago my Pathfinder was broken into. I bought a BlackVue DR770X Box 3 channel dash cam along with a B-130X. This worked well when my commute was 1 hour each way per day. The B-130X provided 12-15hrs of parking mode time each day I went to work. Since then I have moved and I am only 25 minutes away and I have a new vehicle. So I went looking for another solution. Whatever I did, it would involve a removable battery since I just don't drive enough to fully charge it.
I considered a EcoFlow. I own a River 2 and a Delta 2 Max (camping equipment). But I wanted something that's simply DC. No inverter, rugged and must be LifePo4. This is when I stumbled on camping batteries they use in Australia and found one unit that is rebranded in the US as a CPAP battery. The Easylonger ES960 297Wh. Most are Li-ion but this one is LifePo4. No inverter, no power button, USB C, 2 USB A, wireless charger, DC in/out and 2 accessory (lighter) ports. The unit also switches between 12/16/20/24V if needed. The wireless charger is only turned on when you press the button (auto turns off if no wireless connection is detected in a few minutes).
I am only running 2 of the 3 cameras right now and the DR770X pulls 14V @ 0.5A (7Wh). I validated this using the B-130X. My setup is Easlonger accessory plug (cigarette lighter) => xt60 on the B-130X => DR770X. For fun, I also have a xt60 coming from my accessory switches to charge the B-130X if I pull the easylonger out. The easylonger will charge the blackvue battery and power the camera. "When" the easylonger dies, it auto switches to the B-130X. Essentially it thinks the engine is running full time. Parking mode still triggers after 5 minutes. I put "when" in quotes because the runtime is potentially 57 hours. Every other day I simply take the easylonger into work and charge it. I put it back in my Jeep when I leave work. The B-130X runs the dashcam while I'm at work.
The easylonger battery has become super useful since it also powers my 12V fridge on beach days and a ton of uses when camping. You can charge it with the AC power brick but I use USB C. It only charges at 60Wh with USB C but I'm not in a hurry to charge it with my setup.
Please note that you do not need the B-130X battery. You can plug the easylonger directly into the DR770X using the provided cigarette lighter adapter. Works just fine but the cameras do lose power when recharging the battery out of the vehicle.
Apologies for the long winded post but I hope someone finds it useful.
Easylonger ES960
https://www.amazon.com/gp/B0BW8D3Z2BThe full retail is $299 but always has a $30 coupon and sometimes a $90 coupon. I grabbed mine at $209. The coupons change frequently.
Cigarette Lighter to XT60 Adapter Extension Cable
https://www.amazon.com/gp/B0D8KRL1ZGI ended up not using this cable and used the factory EcoFlow one I got with one of my units. The EcoFlow plug is far better and no bright red light.
