Dash Cam
INNOVV..C3. Xiaomi Yi Dashcam
I was so excited after getting the C1 after 4weeks.
Charged unit..

My first dumb mistake is hooking it up to the cpu and try it as webcam..
C1 does not want to be found as web cam even following instructions.
oh, well....unplug from cpu..

Press C1 pwr button ..no led light...dead...
tried several times..different keys etc...no help

ok pressed the "reset" button at the back..
clicked several times..
hold it for 5 seconds....none worked..still dead

swap out card...same thing.. dead...

under desparation
disconnect battery is last try...
I openned the rear plate...saw the battery connector bury deep inside..
Has to move the guts out to reach the battery plug.

I was very careful
yet..
The slide switch broke on me. It is a very fragile slider. I'm really mad at myself:mad:..:(:mad::mad::(
it has a very thin slider notch blade...
(Be very carefull with slide switch....)...WARNing to new owners.
yes, I read what "Kamkar1" warning..but I was desparated
now I have no switch..it stucked in single shot mode and not in cycle mode.

yes..disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it reset the unit...unit is back alive...

Put it back together...watch out the grey pads.....very easy to crumble...

:(:(:(:(:(

I wonder what happened to the unit when I was trying the webcam mode.
C1 in power off..plug in cpu..correct cable
I hold "shutter"..and press the "power"..button to turn on as in instruction
...no webcam but ..I think this key combo hanged the unit.

However, C1 has very nice picture.

My hat is off to the ppl at innovv who put these cams together :) my old eyes and fingers could not do it, and the pain in my back and elbow make it harder and harder for me to focus on things i do.

If i could afford it i would have my eyes laser fixed, they have become worse and worse the last 4-5 years.

NO!!!!!!! I'm sure they will replace it with expedited shipping (hint hint) No way of sliding it to another position until they send a new one? Any local distributors that can handle an exchange?

It is Canada, won't want US distributor...because, UPS or FedEx charge hugh broker's fee. I bought a 20$ item with 7$ shipping.,I have to pay 15$ brokerage...never again..

Thanks to Rock..
he is sending me slide switch and I can replace it myself..won't have to wait ..

And the cable?

Dashcam cable was included in the original shipment...so it is not needed..
if I need a longer cable over 2 meters, I need a new end piece to make my own
or
splice the current factory supplied Dashcam cable..with additional length..anyone with solder skill could do.

Finally got the spare switch and the grey heat transfer pads from Rock..
I removed the old switch and soldered the new one in..
Used a fine tip 35w soldering iron..do not use the electric coil iron one to prevent stray current to the unit.

I also added a tiny tab of solder to the usb' feets to reinforce the unit.
I place the heat pads on top of the cmos sensors board connector using plastic tweezers.

I'll edit and post a few pic later.

Going out to test later..

It is not all people can do like you. your engineering background support you!

Other customer is not lucky, he distorted the camera, and get new replacement.

......snip......If i could afford it i would have my eyes laser fixed, they have become worse and worse the last 4-5 years.

u r not alone.....used to have 20/30 vision until I hit my late 50s.......every couple of years I need new glasses...Doc's say it's normal w/ aging....d___n it.

I just want to add a bit tips here..

the switch requires very flat surface to function properly.

you need to remove excess solder on pads using solder wick, and clean flux off.
ensure to use a tweezer or micro clamp to hold switch down during solder. "important"
press down tabs as well. don't put too much solder.

reason : the switch cover is lightly holding the switch together..
any gaps underneath switch and pcb would cause failure.

You engineering background support that!:)

Thx Rock,
although it was my stupidity, I suggest 2 options for C1 improvement.
1. move plug to the rear.. properly major pcb layout change..$$
2. add an 0.5 inch (approx) extension wire to allow the mCP-X Ultra Micro plug be accessible. this is a cheap solution at factory.

Thank you, CF7.
You have the good suggestion, that would help for assembling and have a bigger space for larger battery.
