Hi everyone,

I’ve seen plenty of great videos and discussions on this forum, and as a new member, I’m really glad I found a community like this!

I recently purchased the Vantrue S1 Pro 4K Dual, but later exchanged it for the N4 Pro S to cover all three angles of my car, including the interior. As I’ve been learning more about dashcams (still new to this world), I’ve realized that the more channels a camera has, the more it sacrifices in processing true 4K quality.

Now I’m facing a dilemma — the N4 Pro S drops resolution when running all three channels, and the interior camera only records in 1080p. I’m wondering if it’s worth switching to the N5S, which is only about $10 more on Amazon right now. However, I noticed the N5S doesn’t have HDR, so it feels like we’re always trading one feature for another.

Side note: How’s the suction mount for you guys? Mine keeps falling off. I feel like Vantrue should include a more reliable mount considering these cameras are in the $300–$400 range.

If anyone could help clarify these points or share their experience to guide me through this journey, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Im open to another brand or model if anything, or ideas.

If you want to clearly identify plates, keep the N4 Pro S.
Easy as that.
The N5S is a great unit to capture everything that is going on, but it will not be able to capture the detail, the N4 Pro S is able to capture.

The suction cup has been working fine for me in any weather. Hot and cold. Never fell down.
Did you make sure that the surface of the suction cup is clean of any dust and dirt?
If you attach it, press it on the windshield to get most of the air out, and only then turn it to get the best suction power.

Thank you for that. I was considering getting the N5S for my family car since it offers better all-around coverage and captures more exterior details. I might hold off and wait for the N5 Pro S next year, while keeping the N4 Pro S for now.

Regarding the suction cup — since I can’t edit my post, what I meant to ask was: how’s the suction cup holding up for you all? The adhesive mount that came with the dashcam keeps falling off, so I’m thinking about switching to the suction option.

I have not had any problems with either the normal adhesive mount or with the suction cup mount. Both hold very well. If either mount is not holding well, try cleaning the window and see if that makes a difference. The suction cup can be cleaned with running water, then let it air dry. Don’t dry it with a towel of any kind, it will collect lint.
