NextBase 402G issues

I had a near miss so decided to download the event.
1. I plugged in the supplied dashcam to PC cable.
2. The PC didn't recognise any new device.
3. I tried the same cable with my Garmin Edge and the PC detected it straightaway.
4. I took the card from the dashcam and connected it to the PC and the only files on there were over a year old.
5. I tried the cable from the Garmin with the dashcam and there was still no recognition.
6. I had hoped that I could update the firmware on the dashcam but as it is refusing to talk then that's going to be a problem.
7. Whilst connected to the PC I deleted all the files on the card and am now trying to see of the issue replicates.
Questions
1. Has anyone seen this before, and is it a common problem.
2. Are there any recommended fixes. I can live with having to remove the card to get to the files, but if the dashcam is not recording them.

Hello,

This is an SD card failure due to lack of regular formatting.

What brand, size, model and class of SD card are you using please?
When and where was the SD card purchased please?
How often is the card usually formatted please?
