Nodding Off at the Wheel

I was eastbound on Interstate 40 east of Flagstaff, Arizona. I had just gotten started for the day and had had a good night's sleep. But for some unknown reason, I nodded off at the wheel. That has never happened to me before in some 50+. years of driving. Fortunately, I started to slowly drift off to the right and hit the rumble strip which jarred me back awake. I took the next opportunity to get off the Interstate and find a place to stop to recline my seat and relax for a little while. When I got going again, I stopped at a travel stop and picked up a bottle of NoDoze tablets and had no more problems throughout the rest of my trip. It would have been interesting to have a 3rd camera that was focused on me during the incident.

Full marks to the rumble strip, so much better than any dashcam lane departure warning!
