I have a toyota tacoma pickup with a canopy on the back. I have been considering options for a rear cam in a 2channel setup (or just going with 2xdashcams).

1. finding a way to run the cable from the cam down through the cab and back up into the truck bed and mounting to the rear window on the canopy
2. Just buying a second 1 channel cam and finding a way to wire it separately (getting cigarette plug wired in or hardwiring it from towing harness wiring).
3. Putting a rear cam at the back of the cab and having to look through the rear windows and through the canopy (likely a lot of wasted footage, would need more of a telephoto coverage)

just looking for others who have done something similar and have any things that worked well (or not well) for them.

If you pick the 1st option, the best way would be to run the cable along the factory wiring harness along the frame, as the cab and bed can move differently to each other, so this minimises risk of damaging the cable.

The second option would work, and is probably the best option you have

The third option will work, but like you say, the footage wouldn't be great, but would still be useable in an insurance claim
