This is the real color of the building:

This is how the MG380G "sees" it: vlcsnap-2016-03-25-14h38m34s700.jpg

Is it normal for the picture to be this orange? I tried all 3 available firmware updates but there's no change.

it's the way it's calibrated, you'll notice the right side of the picture has much better shadow detail than your more technically correct screenshot above

So there's nothing that can be done to bring it a little bit closer to reality?

Is your SS PRO also calibrated this way? What are the audio specs of yours? The audio of the MateGo is barely audible, it's only a bassy rumble with no treble or mid-range frequencies.

The SS and SG are calibrated differently, audio is not loud on these but that's a hardware limitation

The only thing I want to know is does the SS also turns everything red into orange?
As for the audio, I don't want it to be loud, I want it to have a normal level (the MateGo's is too low) and be perceptible. Are the SS's audio specs the same as the MateGo's? 128Kbps 48.0 kHz?

the colours don't necessarily look natural the way they are tuned, SS and SG have been calibrated differently to each other though, audio is a hardware limitation, not related to encoding

Ok. Meanwhile I took a look at @niko's presentation of the SS-PRO and I'm afraid it also turns red into orange. The audio seems a little bit better but I'm not willing to risk it.

The problem I have with this is that if I get hit by a red vehicle and the camera doesn't capture the number plate/registration, the proof that the camera gives me is that I've been hit by an orange vehicle, and that's a serious liability.

Too bad, because they have a damn good night video quality. :(
