Gearbest as usual was kind enough to send another cam for review. Some users here may know I really like WiFi as a feature, as I am a big blackvue fan. This camera has a screen still, with wifi, but is still very small.

As usual my main review is in the video below but I will list off some of the important Pros and Cons.

Pros-

-A7LA55 provides quality 1080p30 or 1296p30 footage.
-Good quality night footage also
-WiFi lets you view a live feed, but not in the same way a blackvue cam does, since it has a screen.
-Action cam mode
-Cloud/Internet mode to view live feed anywhere over the internet
-Very compact design
-While I did not like the provided suction cup mount, the "sliding" mount piece was very nice.

Cons

-WiFi app left a lot to be desired. you can not record in dashcam mode while wifi is on. You can access the cam local or anywhere in the world with the cloud mode, but if you activate the cloud mode, its not recording according to the manual. I was able to test the wifi mode and you can manually start recording from the app but its not like its constantly recording. I was unable to get a live feed from the cloud mode but according to the manual it acts the same as wifi but over the internet. You have to activate the cloud mode on the cam before hand, and its not recording at that point.
-Suction cup mount should be replaced with something better, my video shows another option.
-all the menu options are not available on the cam, you must access some options like resolution or g sensor/motion sensor options from the wifi app.
-If they want it to be used as an action cam, a water proof case would be nice.

I have not had a chance to try the WiFi with mine, A little upsetting to hear this.

I'll have to watch in a bit. I was hoping to hack something shorter together myself.

@GearBest

thank for for posting some raw files. I will try to make a habit out of doing that more often. I have in the past for a few cams but often times I give the camera away and then realize I don't have any raw files that don't have me talking or my obnoxious music playing that I don't want heard hah.

i think I might start recording without sound once in awhile to make sure I get some good video clips I don't need to worry about editing, and can upload raw to dropbox.

I have posted a review on this camera in another thread about 3 times but the posts and now thread keeps disparaging because of the database crashing.

So again

Here is my unboxing.

Okay so a few more notes from my old posts.

Positives

I really like the size of this camera. It fits in my pocket nice. I have been able to pop it around in both cars with little issue. It is small and out of the way while still retaining a screen.

I like that depending on the cord I am using this camera will not go into USB mode when plugged into my Subaru's stock USB ports. Most other cameras I have seem to regardless of the brand of cord used.

I like the color not pitch black, but not hey look at me either with very little chrome.

The mounting idea is interesting.

I like how the timestamp is sort of outlined to make it pop just a little from the video making it easier to see.

Negatives

While better then the Garmin i tested before the bitrate is still a little lower then I would like at 10.5

While I do not mind the mount as much as other mounts it is not directly swap-able with a regular T Style mount this mount is too long and narrow. I also wish that a 3M low profile mount was included in the box. Something like what USDashCamera uses.

I have not timed it, but since it is trying to be part action camera I try to keep an eye on the battery unplugged and it does not seem to last very long.

I wish there were more settings on the screen itself such a clip length.

Over all though I am rather happy with this camera. This is a camera that as seen in the video above I feel comfortable using in the Camaro which doesn't happen often.
