Nextbase 512 GW & RC
I've had a 512GW since July (hardwired & RC fitted in August) and it's been pretty great up until the last few days. Everytime I get in my car, the camera warns me that it has a low battery and then turns off, until i start the engine seconds later.

At first, it would only do this when I'm at work. I looked at the recorded files and it had turned on and recorded for 2 minutes at several random points throughout the day. Looking at the recordings, nothing is seen to be going on. Being autumn, I put this down to the fact that I have had to park in an area that I don't usually park in at work that has lots of trees above..

The last couple of days, it's started doing it all the time. Nothing recorded that sheds any light onto why the camera started recording (9 / 10 are protected recordings).

Today, when I got home from work, the camera had 2 bars of battery left. Went out to it a few hours later and the battery was basically flat, once again.

At a similar time to when this started, the camera would completely lock up atleast once a day, but it hasn't done so since the camera has been basically flat everytime I've gone to it.

The G Sensor is set to Medium, and always has been. I checked earlier this week for a firmware update, but the camera was already uo to date Nothing has changed to my knowledge. The area ive been parking in at work, is one I've parked in before and I didn't get this issue, not even when I had a 312GW in my old xar.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Seemingly quite a commonly reported issue if you search this forum. I had the same with my 512GW - loads of protected recordings in parking mode - literally every 8 to 12 minutes. Despite there being no actual movement / impact. The G sensor sensitivity setting appears to have no affect at all on parking mode.

I've now got a replacement unit, and it appears to be much better in this regard. It still appears to be set with a hair-trigger when it comes to parking mode, but at least it isn't going off continually anymore. I'd suggesting getting hold of @NextBase Tiffany - she's been great in helping.

Hi @crawhe

If you're on the latest firmware, R22.5 this shouldn't be happening. There are a few things going on here, I will go through them below.

The G-Sensor setting only adjusts the sensitivity when the car is in motion, not for paring mode. Parking mode sensitivity is set by us in the firmware.

The 312GW works in a completely different way, well, for parking mode at least so they can't be compared in this sense.

Can you email support@nextbase.co.uk so that we can get a new Rear Cam cable in the post? If you're able to send a screen shot of the protected file list this will be great.
