Full disclosure, have only ready manual casually so here is what it summarized (and I surmise...)
The BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus automatically enters Parking Mode either when the ignition is turned off (via ACC+ wiring) or when the G-sensor detects that the vehicle has been stationary for about five minutes. In Parking Mode, the dashcam uses both motion detection and the G-sensor (impact detection) to trigger event recordings.
Can You Disable G-Sensor-Based Parking Mode?
- Direct Disabling of Only G-Sensor Parking Activation:
There is no user-accessible option to disable just the G-sensor as the trigger for entering Parking Mode while keeping other Parking Mode features active. If your dashcam is not hardwired to the vehicle's ACC+ (ignition), it relies on the G-sensor to switch into Parking Mode when the car is stationary.
- Disabling Parking Mode Entirely:
You can turn off Parking Mode in the camera’s settings. If you do this, the dashcam will continue recording in Normal Mode as long as it is powered, regardless of whether the vehicle is stationary or moving. This is the only way to completely prevent the dashcam from entering Parking Mode due to the G-sensor.
- If Hardwired (Using ACC+):
When the dashcam is hardwired to the vehicle’s fuse box using the included cable, Parking Mode is triggered by the ignition status (ACC+ off), not the G-sensor. In this setup, the G-sensor is not used to enter Parking Mode, so you effectively bypass G-sensor-based activation.
- Adjusting Sensitivity
- While you cannot disable only the G-sensor activation for entering Parking Mode, you can adjust the sensitivity of the G-sensor for impact detection during Parking Mode or even turn off impact detection entirely within the Parking Mode settings. However, this affects event recording, not the entry into Parking Mode itself.
In summary:
You cannot disable just the G-sensor trigger for Parking Mode without also disabling Parking Mode entirely. If you want to avoid G-sensor-based Parking Mode activation, hardwire the dashcam to your vehicle’s ACC+ so that Parking Mode is triggered by ignition status instead. Otherwise, the only way to fully avoid G-sensor-triggered Parking Mode is to turn off Parking Mode in the settings.
