So I placed an order for this 3 channel system (Viofo A229 Pro) with detachable cabin/rear view cameras.
I want it primarily for 360 coverage while parked, but now I wonder if the cabin camera should be better placed pointing inside on the rear window instead of being stuck on the windshield, so I can record some nice ****pit action while driving.

-Did anyone ever had it mounted like that?

-Do I still have near 360 coverage for vandalism, door dents, etc?

-IR illumination issues?

-Any other pros and cons?

Vãlkomna to the forum Dimitris1976

If you have a camera with the IR aid lights pointing at glass, you might see the camera blinded by those lights reflection at night
When i tested the A139 with its remote interior camera i put that on the mirror stalk so it was up high and in the middle of the car, of course you could put it on a longer wire in the back and pointing forward.
I have that kind of view ATM testing the Vantrue N5 system.

Hej Kamkar och tack för svaret!

Watching your video makes me wonder if that front looking inside camera will delover that "over the shoulder" view I want...
Mine is a coupe sportscar with much shorter distance between the rear glass and driver/passenger seats but those cameras have a pretty wide field of view...

Welcome to the club.
I thought you would never ask. Lol
Here’s what it looks like in my large 4-door sedan;

If you have a small 2-door sports car here’s what that might look like;

If you want do do this you may need the 6 Meter “long” cable for the IR Interior camera;

My car is the small Suzuki Splash, wide angle lenses make it look larger than it is.

WoW!
Thank you for your answer.

Now that last video - maybe with camera mounted higher up - is the kind of "driver's seat" kind of view I am looking for!

the only drawback is you don't get any usable side window coverage...
Your car is a Miata right?
Mine has a back seat and rear quarter windows too.
